The new Verifone SC 5000 makes it possible for existing VeriFone magnetic stripe terminals and electronic cash registers to read and process EMV-compliant smart cards. It also supports debit card, electronic benefits transfer (EBT), and stored value transactions making this PIN pad a fast and affordable way to upgrade existing terminals.
As an added level of security to PIN based transactions SC 5000 has tamper-detection circuitry, VeriShield file authentication, and sophisticated encryption including 3DES and AES. Its user friendly design minimizes errors with large keys, and an easy-to-read display that is capable of handling a variety of images, including merchant logos and graphical-based character sets. The addition of an SC 5000 PIN pad can significantly reduce costs for merchants and increase customer satisfaction.
